I hope this blesses you and stirs your heart to DO SOMETHING! Even if you haven't figured your "something" out yet please participate in supporting those who have, by, buing a pie or help spread the word to those who might want to buy a pie, maybe you bake do the same thing in your area! Let's see how many girls we can get free by CHRISTMAS!
Hello all! Did you know that something I love to do and am also very good at is baking pie?! Gracious, I won first place in the pie baking contest at the country fair up in New York one year! You may know that I am a terrible cook, but I love to bake (:
So I was at True Daughters Girls Camp (woot woot) and a woman from the A21 campaign was there and we were offered to take a course to learn more about A21. I knew the basis of the campaign and that it was created by Christine Cain and it is a fight against human trafficking. Human trafficking is a serious issue that happens all over the world, yes that means in the US as well. I didn’t want to take the course because I knew it would break my heart and cause me to want to do something to help, and I just didn’t feel like doing anything. Crazy how we can let our feelings get in our way, huh? I of course got put into this class anyway! (God is the best comedian there is!) And I learned about all the statistics and the realness of this terrible market that goes on.
Did you know that you can be sold into trafficking as early as the age of four?
Did you know when woman are sold into sexual trafficking, they may serve up to forty men a day?
Did you know that some people are sold into trafficking by their own family members?
Did you know that once you are sold into trafficking there is virtually no way out?
But did you know that just $40 can save one person from trafficking?
So obviously, leaving this course it was very heavy on my heart to do something to help A21! So that night I was doing the devotional they provided for us and we were supposed to answer the question “can you think of any special talents, interests, or desires that you have?” so I wrote down a familiar quote of mine… “I bake pie”
Background: if you know my brother, Jake, you know he is one of the most talented people you will ever meet. So whenever we meet new people they will start talking about his musical talents and whatnot, and then sometimes people will turn to me and say, “so what do you do?” A simple question of course. But all I can ever think of is “I bake pie” and I of course sound very silly saying it! Haha (:
So I wrote my, “I bake pie” quote and giggled. Then it all clicked together for me! I was like “Whoa, I can bake pie. You can sell pies. That makes money. I want to help A21. Hey hey hey!” So that’s when my idea was born, I am going to bake pie and raise money for A21, a very organized and amazing organization against human trafficking.
So that’s my part! Now here is where I am asking you to come into my plan: In order to make money, I need to sell pies. In order to sell pies, people need to buy them. Simple! And who doesn’t love pie? I mean, its pie! Also, thanksgiving is coming up and I’m sure everyone has enough to cook already so why not lighten the load and buy your pie. This way you will not only be making it easier for yourself, but you will be helping in the fight against human trafficking!
I will be offering two types of pies: my specialty is Strawberry-pineapple, and then also I will make the traditional pumpkin pie! I sat down with my dad and after long math problems we figured out the price of the supplies to make one pie! The price is $6 per pie, so in order to make a good profit for A21, I will be selling each pie for $10. I am asking that you please make orders one week in advance so I will have time to prepare the pies! You can email me via Facebook or call me at 919-339-7204 to make orders! Please pass the word! Thank you,
Rachel Raineri
